SAINT AUGUSTINE
Born: 345 - Died: 430

Saint Augustine was born in 345, at Tagaste, Africa.
As a child he was brought in the Christian faith but without receiving Baptism. As a young school boy of brilliant talents and violent passions he soon lost his faith and innocence. He lived this life till the age of 32 when he regained faith of his childhood. Even with this he could not break his evil habits. One day he cried out to God for help and with that he withdraw into a garden where a long and terible conflict ensued. One day he heard a voice say "Take and Read" and he begin reading this passage "Walk honestly as in the day." The battle was won and he returned home was Baptism and gave all he had to the poor. He settled in Hippo and was consecrated Bishop in the year 395. For the next 35 years he was the Church's mightest champion against heresy. His writings have been accepted everywhere as one of the principal sources of devotional thought and theological speculation. He died in the year of 430.
