OUR FAMILY

We have been blessed with a wonderful family of three children. Our home is full of laughter and love. We often stop for "family hugs" and regularly overwhelm Christian with "kiss floods!" We are a close knit family and found it difficult to leave Mark and Melanie behind as we moved to Peru. Please continue to pray for our children's protection as they move forward into their changing lives.

CHRISTIAN MICHAEL is 11 years old and was 8 when we went to Peru. He REALLY LOVES the United States and is happy to be back, but he also grew to love the people of Peru and really misses his friends there. He has already learned Spanish quite well. While we lived in Peru, God called him to be a missionary, so he is excited that we will be going back to the field soon.

Christian is in middle school this year and plays clarinet in the band. This summer, he helped tutor a young Mexican who was in our summer school here, because he didn't know any English yet. Christian did a very good job. He has grown up so much since we've been back in the States.

He's a typical, energetic boy who lives with the knowledge that God healed him and saved his life when he was just a little baby. He accepted Jesus as his Savior in Vacation Bible School in July of 1998 and was baptized in November 1998. He received the baptism of the Holy Spirit in the summer of 2003. He loves to swim, draw, build with Legos, and play computer games.

MELANIE WEDEL, 24, is an aspiring writer and also teaches in a special school in Kansas City for students with unique learning disabilities. She has applied for the Peace Corps and anticipates and assignment early in 2004.

In May of 2001, she graduated from college at William Jewell College in Liberty, MO. As part of her honors program, she got to live and study last year at Oxford University in England. One of the authors she studied while there was C.S. Lewis. The professor who taught her actually studied under C.S. Lewis, so it was a special experience. We're very proud of her.

Melanie loves literature, basketball, and her family.

MARK WEDEL, 27, moved back to Houston from Lubbock, Texas . . . and there he found his bride! Mark and Katie were married on March 15, 2003.

Mark works as a manager at Chili's at Bush Intercontinental Airport. In his line of work, he has worked as far away as California and New York, training others how to run a restaurant kitchen. He enjoys photography and surfing, but we're quite sure photography will win out. He and Katie are expecting their first baby in January, 2004. We're very proud of them. Mark and Katie's Page
