Two Peas in a Pod.  Not.

Suburbia

Greetings!

One of the true joys of my work are the children who come to visit me.

Today, Kelly and Kai pleasured me greatly.  What's the opposite of two peas in a pod?  Kelly and Kai.

I've known them before they were born, when they were future dreams of their parents.  Their dad is originally from Hawai`i, referred to me by his cousin who is a colleague of mine in Hawai`i.

DH and I attended their parents' wedding at a cliffside restaurant on October 2, 1988.  Not that I have a photographic memory.  Their wedding favor was a magnet with their names and wedding date, and it's been on the inside of my medicine cabinet holding up a favorite picture for the last 14 years!

Kelly is nine years old.  I've known her since she was 2 and 1/2, going on 10.  Bright as they come.  She loves school, especially Math.  And she's sweet, too.  She says she wants to grow up and do what I do for a living.

Compliments don't get any sweeter than that!

Kai is seven years old. He has two giri-giri (cowlicks).  If you're Asian, you know exactly what that means.  And Kai won't disappoint you.  He is one kolohe (naughty in Hawaiian) boy.  He had had his fingers on everything and after he left, I wiped off his fingerprints off everything.

He hates school, especially Math.  He says he wants to grow up and be a soccer player.

I'll be his biggest fan.

I asked him if he still accepted hugs.  He said he did. He let me give him a big hug before he left.

And then he gave me a great big bear hug right back. Hugs don't get any huggier than that!

I love my job.
