The book Giovanni's Room is a really interesting book writen by James Baldwin. I enjoy reading this book, because it speaks real social issues. Still a lot of people look down of the homosexual in today's society, it's not easy for the people admit or accept their friend or family member who is gay, especially the old people. They think it is unnature thing.
In the book the author talked about a man whose name was David which is the narrator had a hard time in his life of homosexuality.David knew from his teenager that he was gay. He encounter his first experience of his homosexual with his best friend Joey. He was really shock by that time, he didnd't want to face that he is gay, so he avoid Joey and cuted down the friednship with him in order to denied that is gay.Unfortunately it didn't help him, he couldn't change the way that he was.
Years later, Daivd found a lady to be his fiancee, Hella, only because he wanted to deny that he was heterosexual. However; it seems didn't work, because he met a young Italy man whose name Giovanni which was a barman in Guillaume's pub in Paris, he didn't want to acknowledge at the first time, he afraid that the people would dispise him. His friend Jacques envourage him don't avoid anything, he should follow what was his mind thinking about, open his heart, go love Giovanni, and let Giovanni love him too. David took Jacques's advice, he start to hung out with Giovanni and spend a lot of time together. The first afternoon David woke up Giovanni's room, with Giovanni fast asleep beside him, he felt the heavy as a fallen rock. Giovanni's room was very simple, and it was not large enough for two. However they live in a same room for a season. while David been together with Giovanni, he still will think about his fiancee, Hella who was now in Spain. He had told Giovanni a little bit about that he has fiancee, and she might come to Paris too. The day that Hella comes to Paris finally arrive, when Giovanni knew that David was going to stay with his fianecee instead him, he was really dejected. Unfortunately the life was unfair, it will always had some bad thing that people didn't expect. Hella didn't married with David because she found out that her fiance was a homosexual and she left him. And Giovanni was sentence to death because he killed his boss Guillaume.
