HISTORY:
Sizer is the daughter of the Daimaou Chestra and Pandora, and is Hamel's twin sister. She was separated from her mother and brother when only a baby after Bass kidnapped her, as Plan B after their initial attempt to free Chestra from Pandora's Box failed. (With angelic blood, Sizer has the ability to release mazoku from or seal mazoku in the box.) She was raised to be the next Hawk King, taking over from Oboe, and was sent to destroy her first city when only six years old. The poor, frightened child tried desperately to persuade Bass from sending her to Promenade but when her only friend was threatened by Guitar she had no choice. She killed everyone there, crying the entire time, and finally when all the nasty guards trying to hurt her were gone she spotted a young boy and his mother. In true six-year old fashion she smiled and tried to introduce herself, but the boy threw rocks at her and called her a monster. This hit Sizer very hard, and after screaming at him to stop several times she took her scythe and plunged it through the body of his mother, who had jumped in front to protect her son. The woman grabbed Sizer, holding her close so that her child could run, and Sizer was shocked by this act, and by the warmth she felt from what was likely the first physical contact she could remember.
After receiving a crash course from Ocarina on the concept of 'mothers', Sizer hit Bass with a thousand questions about her own mother. He showed her Pandora and Hamel in his crystal, laughing and playing the violin, and told Sizer that Pandora had given her up as an infant and was obviously not missing her at all. The young Sizer believed this, and it was further reinforced when later Bass brought Pandora to the Northern Capital, encased in her crystal, and the woman would not respond to any of Sizer's pleas or produce any of the warmth the dead woman in Promenade had. Completely convinced of her mother's betrayal, Sizer gave in to what the mazoku wanted and became the Red Witch, slaughtering humans and destroying towns wherever she went.
This went on into her teenage years, before she finally began to tire of the killing, and her hatred lost its complete grip on her. She still hated her mother, but also dreamt of saving her even though she was convinced Pandora would reject her once released. She began to rebel against the mazoku more, and started plotting against them, using Pandora's Box to seal her entire army within once she'd retrieved both the box and the key.
Guitar captured her afterwards, but after being rescued by her brother and his friends she joined the good guys and never turned back.

PERSONALITY:
Sizer's personality is a product of having had no human contact for the first eighteen years of her life. (That she can remember, anyway) Although she has experienced kindness through Ocarina, she is completely clueless as to how to act in the human world, and how to communicate with people. Because of this she sometimes comes off as a little cold or uncaring, but she truly treasures all of her new friends and would go to hell and back in order to protect them. Whenever she experiences behaviour from others that she doesn't understand her natural instinct is to reject it, which makes it very hard for poor Raiel to woo her in her overdramatic way.
Sizer is the emo kid of the series, plagued by guilt due to all the people she's killed in the past. She finds it very hard to let go of this, and has very low self-esteem, not believing herself worthy of living for a long while. It is a huge moment for her in the series where she finally announces that she wants to live, and atone for her sins through her future actions.
Like with Hamel, it is an absolute joy watching Sizer develop throughout the series, and see her gradually open up to people and smile, and realise that she deserves to live. She is arguably the most devoted of the Great Hopes, because she wants with all her heart to protect these people who have shown her such a wonderful life outside of the harsh walls of the Northern Capital. She's physically strong, but still very fragile emotionally when she first joins Hamel's group in v11, and because of this I found it incredibly moving during scenes such as when Sizer exclaimed that it was wonderful to have friends. She's my absolute favourite character in the series (almost certainly my favourite character in any anime/manga series) and I'll never stop enjoying her emotional journey. <3 <3 <3

RELATIONSHIPS:
Hamel: He's her brother, and while she wants his approval and his friendship she finds it very hard to bond with him most of the time. This may or may not be due to Hamel dressing her up in ridiculously inappropriate outfits most of the time... ^.^; This doesn't stop her from trying though, in her own way, and so she goes to Raiel in order to learn about him and his past. After this she sympathises with him greatly, but is still very shy around him and will generally spend her time with other people if given the option.

Raiel: Raiel confuses Sizer greatly, as she cannot understand his strange forms of attention and attempts to involve her in his fantasies. At first she uses Raiel only as an information source for Hamel, but through spending this time with him she begins to see him as a kind person, and not just a strange creature intent on embarrassing and confusing the living daylights out of her. He spends more time with her later on, and she begins to feel more comfortable opening up to him than any of the other Great Hopes, and eventually begins to understand his love for her, reciprocating herself later in the series. ^____^ RaielxSizer is my Violinist of Hameln OTP! After their initial bumpiness, Raiel is probably the character next to Ocarina that Sizer feels the most comfortable with.

Flute: Sizer takes to Flute instantly, as Flute is the first person (aside from Ocarina) who ever shows Sizer kindness. Although her romantic feelings are directed at Raiel, she cares for Flute very, very deeply, and wants to do all she can to return the kindness that Flute offered her. She freaks right out when Flute is captured by Vocal, and takes it upon herself to kill Vocal in order to rescue her and avenge the villagers that Flute got so attached to.

Trom: Sizer wants to be Trom's friend, but is consumed with guilt upon discovering that she was present at the death of his parents. This almost destroys the emotional development she's made between volumes 11 to 17, and his taunts that she's a murdering mazoku cut right to the bone. She tells him to stab her in order to avenge them, but later in the series fights to protect him in order to atone for the wrongs she's done him.

Ocarina: Although Sizer is the 'mistress' and Ocarina is the 'servant', Sizer relies very, very heavily on her. Ocarina is, in my opinion, the most important person in Sizer's life. The mazoku raised her, and without the support she received from her Sizer never would have survived her horrible childhood. Ocarina's death absolutely devastates Sizer, and she becomes hysterical and tries to kill herself before Raiel's slap brings her around. Although she manages to smile afterwards and move on with her life, Sizer never stops thinking about Ocarina.
