Sherborne:

Sherborne is a small town [7606 inhabitants] in the south of England. It is situated in the county of Dorset. Sherborne's main attraction is its beautiful Abbey Church, with its delicate fan-vaulting and stained glass windows, but also the two castles namely Sherborne Castle and Old Castle are worth a visit. But that's not all, Sherborne has a lot of other sights such as Sherborne Museum and several historical schools. The town is also well known as the home to many fine art and antique shops. But Sherborne is not just an interesting town for tourists, also for doing business Sherborne is the place to be.

Why did we choose Sherborne?

Thanks to the Douzelage our company took note of Sherborne. The Douzelage was originally a cooperation between 12 European municipalities but in the meantime it has grown into 15 representatives from all European countries. The purpose of this cooperation is to give shape to the European unification. As many of our customers are based in the south of England, we decided to establish a business in Sherborne. In this way it will be easier for us to communicate with our English customers and we will also be able to deliver our products cheaper and faster to them. Sherborne is also a suitable location as:

v      It has a strong and diversified economy;

v      It offers a skilled, well qualified, stable workforce;

v      The labour rates are below the national average;

v      Important cities like Birmingham and London are only at short distance;

v  There are good road and rail links including direct rail links with London and Heathrow Airport.

Communications:

Sherborne lies on the A30
, it has good road links to the rest of the UK. Especially eastwards towards London, which can be reached via the M27 and M3 motorways. Rail links are good as well; an hourly service connects with London's Waterloo station. Airports are also nearby; with the nearest airport being Bournemouth International, but Exeter, Bristol and Southampton International airports, together with London Heathrow (about a 90 minutes drive) are easily accessed as well. Of course there are also some ports; The port of Poole offers ro/ro services to Europe. Portland and Weymouth also provide port facilities. Southampton (a 30 minutes drive via the M27) is one of the UK's most important ports, serving ro/ro and container routes to destinations around the world.
