VI. Personal Armor:
- To use the VR-102 Viper, the pilot must be wearing a suit of PPAS-1
Bubblegum Personal Power Armor Suit, to which the Cyclone attaches in
Battloid mode.
VII. Armament:
Internal:
- 2 x GR-112 mini-missile launcher: The main weapon of older
cyclones has remained mostly unchanged in the newer models. The launchers
are mounted side by side in breast plate and in front of drivers seat in
motorcycle mode. Both launchers hold 12 IM-07
Black Widow Infantry Missiles for a total of 24 missiles.
- 2 x Smith & Wesson 35mm autocannons: The VR-102 mounts a pair
of concealed autocannons in the wrists of the mecha. They are
concealed behind armor plates when not firing and are mounted on either side
of the front wheel in motorcycle mode. Each cannon has 40 rounds of
ammunition each and cannot be reloaded in the field.
- 1 x Krupp PBC-20 particle beam cannon: Fires 60 MJ of
particle energy up to 14 times/minute with great accuracy to long ranges.
Can also discharge at half-intensity but at double the normal rate of fire.
The cannon is arm mounted and have a large field of fire. Drawing power from
the mecha's power system, the particle beam has effectively unlimited
ammunition. The cannon is mounted in a hand held unit.
VIII. Armor:
The armor of the Viper is composed of an advanced lunarium alloy. The armor
on the Viper stops all small arms fire, provides good protection against heavier
infantry weapons, such as a 12.7mm machinegun round, and to light mecha-mounted
weaponry, such as the Zentraedi 22.3mm HE autocannon round. Vulnerable areas of
the pilot are part of the upper arms, which are unarmored. The thighs and helmet
are not protected by the Cyclone, but are covered by the power suit. Nuclear,
biological, and chemical protection is limited to that provided by the power
armor suit.
