Party frenzy

HesingCHRISTMAS PARTY FRENZY.  As in all the years past, last December was a season of seemingly endless partying. Aside from the Misa de Gallo, holding Christmas parties has become a tradition in our way of celebrating yuletide.  Last Dec. 20, seen gracing the annual Christmas party of the LCHS employees were LCHS school director Henry Siao, Lanao Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce president Robert Co, and LCHS Alumni Association 1st VP Suniel Lim.  They were there as special guests of the affair.  In Cebu, seen celebrating Christmas Eve and his birthday simultaneously was Jesus "Hesing" Dy (Batch '63), in photo at left.  Hesing hosted a small yet intimate party at his residence in Mactan, Cebu on Dec. 24.  His wife Melania (in photo at right) did a superb job in the preparation of so many delectable homecooked dishes and delicacies for the guests that included some relatives, a few close friends and neighbors. It was Hesing's first birthday celebration in his new Mactan home.

VCDJingLCHS HISTORY IN VCD.  The LCHS administration, in collaboration with the LCHS Alumni Association, has produced a video CD of the history of LCHS.  The VCD (in photo) was conceived by LCHS assistant principalChristine Veronica "Jing" Uy (in photo) as part of the celebration of the 68th Foundation Day of LCHS.  The VCD features a 9-minute pictorial slide show of LCHS from its beginnings in 1938 up to the establishment of the new LCHS campus in Pala-o, Iligan. The narration was done by Suniel Lim, based on the LCHS history written by Fe Quimbo and translated by Nelson Sy, and with  narrative updates by Christine Veronica Uy. This treasurable VCD is available for sale, the proceeds of which will go to the renovation of the school gym.  Interested parties may get in touch with James Booc, cell no. +639176213080, or email: dimx2@yahoo.com.

AlexIN AND OUT OF TOWN.  Spotted breezing into town in Iligan recently was Spectrum founder and past editor Charles O. Sy (Batch '67). After catching a flight from Cebu to Cagayan de Oro last December 18, Charley proceeded immediately to Iligan to take part in the vigil and subsequent interment ceremonies of a close family friend, the late Ang Suan Em.  Meanwhile, scheduled to leave Iligan is Mike Lee (Batch '66) who returns to Edmonton, Canada on Dec. 31.  Mike took a quick leave of absence from work last Dec. 15 to fly home to grace the wake and interment of his mother.

CONGRATULATIONS.  This just in. We learned from Peter Dy that Alex Rodriguez (Batch '65) is now a full fledged M.S.N (Master in Science of Nursing). His graduation took place last December 16 in Florida, U.S.A. (in photo)  Our congrats to Alex on his latest professional accomplishment.

An Inventory of the Year That Was

As we ring out the old and ring in the new, let us try to look back and make an inventory of the things, people, places, and events in our lives the past 365 days of the year 2006. Let us make a real honest-to-goodness self-examination and evaluation of ourselves that we may continue doing the good things and refrain from doing the undesirables, that we may become better persons that God has always wanted us to be. Here goes:

1.  How did I celebrate and start the year 2006?
2.  Who were the people that I made happy by the things I said and did?
3.  Who were the people that I have hurt through my words and actions?
4.  Who were the people that I had misunderstanding with?
5.  What are my greatest achievements?
6.  Which of my plans did or did not materialize?
7.  What were the occasions where I shared special moments with my family?
8.  How many trips have I made? Whereto?
9.  How many Sunday masses did I miss? For what reasons?
10. What were the trials that came into my life? How did I deal with them?
11. How many times did I get sick? From what?
12. What were the pleasant surprises?
13. What were the shocking news?
14. What were the nice books I've read?
15. What were the things I bought for myself?
16. Who were the people that remembered me on my birthday?
17. What promises to myself did I break?
18. Who were the people I hated or disliked most?
19. Who were the people that died?
20. How many times was I invited as sponsor (wedding, baptism, inauguration, etc.)?
21. How many times did I help the needy? Who were they?
22. What were the occasions that I got angry or lost my patience?
23. Who were the people that I asked favor from?
24. What were the mistakes I committed?
25. What were the lessons I learned?
26. Who were the people I gave my pieces of advice to?
27. Who were the people who helped me?
28. What were the things that really made me happy?
29. What were the things that really made me sad?
30. What were the good/bad things that I have done to myself?
31. What were the good/bad things that I have done to others?
