FromNancy Guevarra Narciso Date: Mon Mar 24, 2003 5:42 am Subject: March Celebrants We learned that Tita Caring Sevilla, sister of Sr. Caritas,is also a March celebrant/celebrator with the same birthday as Marilen (March 11). So we asked her to join us in the candle blowing. Seven of us blew out 7 candles.: Marilen, Millie, Nora, Rosa,Carol, Tita Caring and moi.(Absent si Maria!) That deliciously decadent, gooey, yummy chocolate cake meron pa ba?) was brought by Lulu Siochi Aberion.
FromNancy Guevarra Narciso Date: Mon Mar 24, 2003 3:47 pm Subject: Happy Victims Again and the Sr. Cyril Fund Malou Reynoso requested Pamela Concordia-David to bring her jewelleries (again!) and many of the GGs were willingly and happily victimimized (again!). Come collection time for Sr. Cyril's scholarship fund, they would say, "Naubos na ang pera namin." But seriously, we are happy to report that we got at least P3,000.00 in the collection box. And Lulu Espiritu Carrasco had also sent a thousand bucks through me. Added to the P7,500 we already had on hand, we now have a total of P11,500.00. There are pledges for at least P9,000 more. We should be able to realize our modest goal of financing the study of at least 10 students, at P2,500.00 per, next school year at St. Paul Medellin. Konti na lang ang kulang. Nancy
From: "nan_sense" Date: Tue Apr 1, 2003 5:49 pm Subject: Sr. Cyril here April 8, 2003 Dear Friends, Sr. Cyril Corpus will meet with us on the evening of Tuesday, April 8, 2003. We will be giving her our contributions for her scholarship fund for deserving students of St. Paul Medellin, Cebu. . . . . . . . . . . .. As you know, our goal is to be able to collect no less than P25,000.00 which is sufficient to support 10 scholars this coming school year. We are very close to reaching our goal. We now have P11,500.00 on hand and an additional P 10,000.00 in pledges. There is a possibility we will be able to collect more than P 25,000.00. On Tuesday, we hope to be able to discuss with Sr. Cyril the best way to remit to her our collections for her scholarship fund. Meaning, should we give everything we collect every year? Or should we support a maximum of 10 scholars every year and keep the rest of the monies we collect in excess of P25,000.00? Some of us feel that we should give everything we collect each year, confident that we can duplicate our efforts in the coming years. That means, if we can collect P30,000.00, let's support 12 instead of just 10 students this coming school year. Some of us, on the other hand, feel that we should commit to support 10 students for four consecutive years until they graduate. To do this, it may be necessary and prudent to keep excess monies to donate the following year. Let's discuss these two options with Sr. Cyril. Millie Braganza has, again!, so generously agreed to have her condo be the venue of our reunion with Sr. Cyril. Surely this is most convenient for all and we can now expect a good turnout. As usual, it will be potluck. SEE you all on Tuesday. Thank you for your generosity. May the Lord bless us all abundantly. Nancy
From: Nancy Guevarra Narciso Date: Wed Apr 9, 2003 1:08 am Subject: April 8,2003 Group Pic 19 GGs were present tonight at the sumptuous dinner hosted by Millie in her oh-so-conveniently located pad in Greenbelt, Makati. They are Cocoi, Marilen, Eca, Millie, Lahla, Nancy, Chit, Rosa, Oro, Cynthia F, Mela, Mita,Corrie, Nina,Malou,Erna, Marifaye,Mely and Helen D. Missed were Carolle, Espie, Angie, Nora, Nydia and Beth Sison who earlier confirmed but for one reason or another, failed to make it to our reunion with Sr. Cyril. ----------------------------- Subject: Donating to Scholarship Fund The primary reason for our gettogether was to give to Sr. Cyril our donations for the St. Paul College of Medellin Scholarship Fund. We gave a total of P31,650.00 with more to follow because a few of the girls who had given their pledges earlier were absent tonight. ----------------------------------------------- Subject: Donation Box As soon as Helen D arrived, Eca approached her with the donation box.Helen good-naturedly said, "Uy pakainin ninyo muna ako." At left is Milagros "Mita" Almeda in one of her rare appearances, seated beside Bday girl Cynthia. Mita kicked off our collection drive for the Vigil House with an initial contribution of P5,000.00. I am challenging the PIGGs of HS65 to raise at least half a million for the Vigil House from among ourselves. If we can raise P31,650 in one week, surely ,we can raise P500,000.00.
From: Mildred Dominguez Kolker Date: Mon Apr21,2003 10:19pm Subject: Flord is now with the Lord At around 3:55 am (EDT) Flord made her final breath and is now with God and all His angels. Jojo called me a little while ago to give me this very sad news. Everyone in her family was around her. She was almost in a coma and could only hear. At the very end she stretched her arms up in a welcoming gesture, opened her eyes and gave a very big smile .... immediately after as Jojo was holding her she passed away. He says she was very, very peaceful and this gave the family great relief that she was no longer struggling and very much resigned to dying. Her body will be cremated, there will be a wake - the service/interment will be on Friday. I will try to see if Lena and I can make it. Flord will always be remembered as a very quiet, fun-loving, very faithful friend who I have loved so dearly. I will miss her and though she is gone the memory of our friendship will always be there. Her last legacy to us was her beautiful dance rendition together with her husband, Jojo, of our native Pandanggo sa Ilaw. To remember her this way is truly fitting for someone who just loved everything - and dancing was one of them - and a truly fitting goodbye gift to us, her SPCM HS 65 classmates. Flord, as to we all look up to the heavens .... we love you and someday we will all be together up there in the company of the greatest Man that walked the earth, our Lord Jesus. Peace and love to you all.... Mildred
From: Nancy Guevarra Narciso Date: Sun Apr 27, 2003 4:00 am Subject: Mass for Flord . . . . . . . . . . Flord's brother, Carlos and his wife, Gloria, son Eugene, daughter Iree and son-in-law Ricky who joined us at the Mass for Flordeliza held at our beautiful SPCM chapel on before noon of April 26, 2003, the same day of her cremation in the US. We had a beautiful and touching Eucharist celebration presided by Fr. Michael Martin who understood that we wanted the Mass to be a tribute to Flord, and a celebration of her life and our friendship with her. Nancy 17 GGs confirmed but only 12 actually made it to the Mass. Here are the dozen of us posing for a pic at the alar with Sr. Cristina who assisted us in the chapel arrangements. Don't you just miss that beautiful chapel? Later, Millie who rushed from her work would catch up with us as we were ending our lunch at the coffee shop and getting ready to tour the rest of the SPCM mini-hotel. Nancy
