Latest Spartakos Team News:

In order to maintain its position as the leading baseball club in Greece, Spartakos has been making preparations all winter for the 2007 baseball season.  Tom Mazarakis has been busy training new players while working with veteran members of the club so that they will all be ready when action begins.  Tom has also been busy looking for new additions to the club from the U.S.  One American from California and a Greek-American from Massachusetts have been recruited.  The Greek-American is Philip Agganis.  Phil's uncle was "The Golden Greek", Aristotle Agganis.  Aristotle, known as Harry in Massachusetts, was the star athlete of his high school in Lynn Massachusetts where he lettered in baseball, football and basketball.  He went on to college at Boston University where he was captain of his baseball and football teams.  He was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in 1955 and played first base on that MLB team without spending even one day in the minors.  Phil is an outstanding athlete who will bring speed and a powerful bat to the team.  The American is John Sandoval.  John won't be as quick on the bases as Phil, but he will be able to hit the ball rather well.  Both of these outstanding athletes will be of tremendous help to our team and we welcome them both.
