Growing up in a small town in Ohio, and being a young girl with big dreams, I constantly experimented with different looks on me and my sisters. I tried to emulate the work of Allan "Whitey" Snyder, Marilyn Monroe's personal makeup artist, and my hero Max Factor. I went to the local library and took out every book I could find on classic movie stars. I read all their biographies and then experimented with their looks on myself. I am sure the kids at school though I was nuts when I would come in with bright eyeshadows and false lashes! And adding to that my sister had a green mohawk, and my other sister shaved off her eyebrows to look like Marilyn Manson. So we were the oddballs, but it was so good for my creativity.
Years later I had moved away from Ohio and began a career at a cosmetics counter in Dallas, Texas. I loved my job and became the go to person for makeup application. I also met some inspiring characters there that helped to push my makeup artistry to a whole new realm. I started frequenting the drag clubs and that's where I learned most of my techniques.
I am so happy to be doing what I love. I will be living in New York soon, and I can't wait to see what the future holds!
