Yes, that's my real hair.

I decided, some time along about the middle of April of 1964 that it might be a good idea if I were to pursue a college degree.  A little late in the academic year to be making that assessment.  But it worked out in my favor.  I got accepted at the University of South Carolina at the Beaufort Extension.  I was really sweating that one...

Anyway, after two quarters of not properly applying myself-remember, I had not followed a college prep academia and was ill prepared to succeed in college-I was invited into the Dean's office, where he promptly forewarned me that I should perhaps expect to soon receive a letter from my friends and neighbors at the local selective service office.

That letter came about a year later, after I had worked my way up the blue-collar ladder at Westinghouse Corporation to Micarta  Saw-man assistant.

In a nutshell:  I got drafter - got assigned to the Marine Corps - went to Radio/telegraph school - went to Vietnam - came home - got assigned to become a Recon paratrooper/scuba diver - got married - got discharged.

For the next 2 years, I went to school along with my wife learning Chemical Technology.  Worked as a security guard at night, learned of an opening in the company lab I was guarding, applied and was successful.

Two years as a quality control technician, four years as a shift foreman and four years as a Purchasing Agent, during which I continued to pursue a college degree, at night.

In December of 1980, after ten years with GAF Corporation, I changed jobs and went to Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation as a buyer.  I am currently employed there after 21 years as a Subcontract Administrator.

Linda and I bought a home in Springfield, Georgia where we put our three children through public school.  We are now raising our first granddaughter who was born in 1993.

We raised our family attending the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Savannah, GA.  We have participated in a number of activities at the Cathedral.  We oversaw their "Sunday School" program for a few years.  We were both Eucharistic ministers for several years.  Our sons were both altar boys, and Tommy, the youngest still serves on the altar every Sunday at Mass.

Now I look forward to retiring and getting a low paying job so that Linda and I can scrape by until death us do part.
