The Southwestern Region is one of 16 regions of the New York State PTA.  It consists of units in the Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Allegany counties of
New York.

The main goal of the Southwestern Region is to be a link between the state PTA offices and the units.  The Board of Directors offers information, training, and all around support to the units in its region.

Every PTA member in the region is invited and encouraged to attend region board meetings.
The next meeting will be held:

The Acorn
Why the acorn for our Region?  The original symbol of the PTA was the Oak tree.  The oak tree begins its life as an acorn, just as the PTA began its life in the heart of Chautauqua County, the western-most county of the Southwestern Region.  Phoebe Apperson Hearst and Alice McClellan Birney were vacationing at Chautauqua Institution, when they contemplated the need for mothers to have a place to work together on behalf of children and youth.  The rest is PTA history!
