Sisterhood in the Heartland of the Sioux Empire

Welcome to the South Dakota Muslim Women's Network.

Our History

South Dakota Muslim Women's Network was founded in 1999, following the founding of its Sister organization, Minnesota Muslim Women's Network, which was co-founded by the founder of South Dakota Muslim Women's Network. The other two primary founders of the Minnesota Muslim Women's Network, have since retired & moved to South Dakota. These wonderful Sisters are: Sister Clareen Menzies & Sister Nieema Thasing. These are two of the most inspiring women in our area, having achieved such things as leading a national programs for an international relief agency & serving as the first South Dakota Muslim woman to hold a political office in the State.

Our Mission

Our mission is to have another place for Muslim women to meet each other (network) for the sake of Allah. By working together we can bring about a unity in the community of Muslim     sisters as well as strengthen in numbers. Each sister brings to the table a unique way of living life, yet we all can share in many of the same things. We pray together in each others homes, as well as learn as we enjoy the company
of so many diverse women.

Each time a new sister meets another sister
and they begin to talk, our goal is reached.
We work to bring the Ummah (mother community) together for the betterment of the Ummah & to strengthen our deen.

When one sister who takes Shahada
(declaration of faith), and is able to get the
information she needs to make her journey a little easier, then we have reached our goal.

A MUSLIM DOES NOT FORSAKE
OR ABANDON HER SISTER

We are not earning any money for doing any of what we do to network with each other, we do it for the sake of Allah.

Love for the Sake of Allah (SWT)

(The terms Brother, Muslim, etc. are not intended
necessarily to be inclusively male in gender.
The teachings are universal to all Muslims)

One of the best distinguishing features of the true Muslim is her love for her friends and sisters & brothers in faith. A love that is not taken by worldly interest or motives, but A TRUE LOVE, whose purity is from the light of Islamic Guidance. A love for the sake of Allah.

-The Messenger of God (PBUH) has been        reported to have said: THERE ARE THREE THINGS THAT WHOEVER ATTAINS THEM WILL FIND THE SWEETNESS OF FAITH: IF ALLAH AND HIS MESSENGER ARE DEARER TO HIM (OR HER) THAN ANYONE ELSE; IF THEY LOVE A PERSON SOLELY FOR THE SAKE OF ALLAH;  AND IF HE (OR SHE) WOULD HATE TO RETURN TO KUHR AFTER ALLAH HAS RESCUED THEM FROM IT, AS MUCH AS THEY WOULD HATE TO BE THROWN INTO THE FIRE."  (AGREED UPON)
