San Diego City Seal

The City Seal was adopted in 1888 at the time of the adoption of the first City Charter. There have been several minor modifications since 1888 but the basic form has been maintained. There is no official color scheme. The decal seals used on most city owned vehicles have a black or navy blue seal placed on a gold background. City stationery and wall calendars used in city business usually are a dark blue or black on plain paper. Several variations are presented here for your enjoyment. Unlike the City's flag the seal is in common use. It appears on City signs, at City operated facilities, and on City sponsored jewelry.
