San Diego City Flag

The flag was adopted by the City Council during the 1930s. The first flag was manufactured only in 1943. The flag does not enjoy widespread recognition or use. It is seen in the council chambers, at some civic events and is flown at sporting event held at Qualcom Stadium.

The flag is a verticle tricolor Red-White-Gold with the City's Seal centered on the White field. The date of European discovery, 1542, is centered below the seal. Commonly arranged in a semi-circle, the year is also sometimes presented in a straight line. There are no official proportions. The commonly used proportions are 3'x5' and 5'x7'.
