Everyone wants to talk about the Triple. Although I would prefer to be remembered for a couple of fast doubles, here goes...

My Vacation in Hell

(Click on the small pic for a larger version)

The Swim: 11.4 Kilometers in a 50m Pool

A happy Mary and Stimpy (age thirtysomething)before the start.

Early in the swim. Notice the impeccable technique, the high elbows, the long smooth stroke.
This was before I started puking.

Stimpy (age 80) during one of his frequent vomit breaks.

Ditto.

After the swim. Mattias, Frau Johnson, Stimpy (age 119), and Krew Kommandant Peter

The Bike:540 kilometers of rain, fog, cold, darkness, rolling hills and false flats.

Crew member Todd and Stimpy (on the right) in the fog.

.

Dawn or dusk(?) on the bike. I can't remember.

Now aged 132.

The Run:126.6 kilometers or 96 laps of 1.32km of rain, darkness, cobblestones, brick, asphalt, and valiant attempts to remove myself from the human gene pool.

Another happy graduate of the Wolfgang Kulow weight loss program.

Stimpy (age 144) reminding himself to thank the race director for a lovely weekend.

"I really think doing another triple would be good for our marriage."

A happy Stimpy (age 165) with Krew Kommandant Peter.

Explaining to the crew: "If I ever show up in the Hamburg airport with a bike box again, please just put a bullet in my brain.....its much quicker."

A very tired Stimpy (age 226) near the end of the run.

The official "Keep the Sponsors Happy" photo. (quit laughing.)

I was 13th out of 22 starters in 52 hours and 2 minutes and (using twisted reverse psychology because "swearing that I will never do this again" doesn't seem to work) I can't wait to do it again!!!

The next day.
