Pride

When Pride is shattered,
Like so many pieces of glass,
Fragile strength broken,
All you can do
is kneel down on the ground,
and slowly pick up the pieces,
careful not to touch
the sharp jagged edges,
that can so easily cut you bleeding,
Just that sudden sharp sting
is all the warning you get,
You can't have someone else
sweep up the mess,
Because they'll just throw it all away,
And you'll never see it again,
Your precious broken treasure,
Easy to lose, hard to find,
You need it to stand straight
and walk easy in yourself.
So whatever you do,
Don't lose your pride,
Or all you'll hold is regret.
