Our message to Conor Murphy's review

Scrap Water Charges completely

Danny Donnelly, We Won't Pay Campaign, Larne

The huge thorn in the side of the freshly elected Assembly that is the hated water charges is currently subject to review by the parties in Stormont.

The review will consist of two strands, the first concerning the funding and cost of water and sewerage and the second examining the management of the services, due to report in autumn and December 2007 respectively.

An “independent” panel appointed by the Minister for Regional Development, Conor Murphy, will review how water and sewerage services are to be financed. It has to report back to the Executive sub-committee before October. By then the Executive has to take a decision on whether or not to impose water charges.
