Jeffrey Novotny, composer and arranger of modern music and jazz

Hello! I am a composer and arranger from Pittsburgh, PA. I write and arrange for many different types of ensembles, including: orchestra, concert band, jazz ensemble, various small groups, marching band, theater pit orchestra, and solo instruments.

My pieces and arrangements have been performed by the Westmoreland Symphony, the Westmoreland Symphonic Winds, the University of Pittsburgh Symphonic Band, the University of Pittsburgh Jazz Ensemble, local high school bands, and several small groups.

My background:
I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1998 with a B.Phil. in Music and Philosophy, though I am self-taught in composition and arranging. At the University I also studied natural sciences and mathematics. I played trumpet in the concert band and jazz ensemble.

If you would like original music composed or arranged for your group, film, art exhibit, play, or other event, please contact me; contact info is at the bottom of the page.

If you or your ensemble would like to try any of my music, please contact me; I can also send you recordings of any pieces. If you are a student or member of an ensemble, please tell your director about this site. Some of this music has not yet been performed, so you can be the first to perform it!

I use PrintMusic 2000 notation software, in the Finale series.
