ADVENTURES IN SPECTRUM LAND!

I was messing around with some little speakers I had, and it reminded me of the old ZX spectrum. You loaded programs into the machine via a tape recorder, adjusting the sound levels, treble and bass to load the game. I wondered if it would be possible to load games into a real ZX Spectrum, via the PC. It can't be that hard, I thought, all you have to do is play the image through the speakers, connect the speakers into the spectrum 'In' and there you have it.

Unfortunately, things like this are never as easy as you think! However, after playing around for I while, I managed to get it to work. I played Manic Miner on an actual spectrum for the first time in about 15 years!

So here's a quick story of how I did it. I know it's not very exciting to most people, so it's more messing around for my own interest.

So the first thing I had to do was dig out my old Spectrum and plug it in to see if it still worked! I grabbed it out of the loft, and it looked ok, no major damage. However, I was missing a power cable. A quick check of the back of the case revealed it needed 9V DC. Hmmm, must have an adapter somewhere - can you guess where it was?
