HOMECOMING

BY Xrtsys

He looked across the rocky shores, his home -
Unseen by him for years, this small harbor -
A land his by birth, but not by life -
But seen with the joy of childhood's sight.
"These trees, these hills, my home," he exclaimed,
Stepping from the ship that brought him there,
"From visions past I know your touch so well,
Yet we meet again, like strangers in the woods -
One finding the other by fate alone.
But these hills I see towering above me -
Seem not so tall as memory says they should,
And this cabin here, this pristine view -
Not so grand as surely it once was."
