episode entitled "Sex, Lies And Ed's Tapes." The segment was written
by serie's executive producers Joshua Brand and John Falsey and

Shelly, who has been rapidly eating and gaining wiegth because of her
pregnancy, is surprised by Wayne, her hockey-playing husband. He
announces that he intends to marry her best friend Cindy but obviously
has to wait until they get a divorce. The news comes as a
shock to Holling, and Shelly explains she forgot to mention she was
married. Holling feels it is wrong to live with another man's wife
and suggest that he and Shelly live apart until her divorce is
final. To compliate matters, Joel informs Shelly that she is not
pregnant as the bllod tests came up negativele. At Joel's office, a
routine check-up obn Rick reveals a potentially life-threatening
tumor. While anxiously awaiting the result of a biopsy, Rick
worries he ay be the latest boyfriend of Maggie's to die while
dating her. Joel suggests that Rick should remain calm because the
tumor is most likely benign. Rick tells Joel he is flying to
Fairbanks alone and asks him to escort Maggie to the Indian dance
exhibition. Marilyn is one of the star performers.
Since Rick is away, Shelly moves in with Maggie for a while. Wayne
tells Shelly he wants to give her another chance. Shelly, who is
feeling confused, agrees to think about it and has dinner with Wayne
in Holling's Bar. Later that evening, Holling asks Shelly to move
back with him. He has reconsiderded his feelings and doesn't feel a
marriage vow should stand in the way of their happiness. Shelly
angrily retorts that she might not get divorced and may move to
Saskatchewan with Wayne. She is upset that she could not count on
Holling. Meanwhile, Ed tries to write a Spielberg-like blockbuster
movie script, but instead he finds himself lost in a series of crazy
daydreams. He tells Joel that he will never be able to write a
genius. He writes about things he knows, and Ed should do the same.
The next morning, Shelly tells Wayne that she doesn't love him and
not leaving Cicely, and he has Cindy.
Meanwhile, Rick has returned to Cicely and waits with Maggie in
Joel's office for the test results. The call comes and Rick is
informed that he is fine. Maggie adn Rick are relieved. Holling
apologizes again to Shelly, but she tells him she is "finished with
men forever." When Holling's neck begins to ache again, Shelly
massages Holling's neck. While shelly holds his head down on the
bar, Holling apologizes for letting her down. Certainly he is old
enough to be her grandfather and yet he is head over heels in love
with her. Holling admits to Shelly that he may not know how to be
with her, but he can't bear living without her. Shelly also apologizes for forgetting to tell him she was married.
At the Indian dance exhibition, Joel and Maggie sit next to each
other, and Joel becomes bored and stands to leave just as the
spotlight illuminates Marilyn. Joel becomes mesmerized by marilyn's
dancing and sits down between two Indians. Meanwhile, Ed begins his
screenplay about an eighteen-year-old Indian named Ed who lives in
the Alaskan town called Cicely...
