Colors of the Tanabata Festival

Early summer doesn't pass directly into a hot summer, but it has still been "Tsuyu" (rainy season) here in Japan. It affects all regions of Japan except Hokkaido. One of the traditional festivals in Japan, "Tanabata," will be on July 7. Its celebration originated in a Chinese folk legend concerning two stars---the Weaver Star (Vega) and the Cowherd Star (Altair)---who were said to be lovers who could meet only once a year on the seventh night of the seventh lunar month. When introduced to Japan, it merged with native legends concerning a celestial weaving maiden (Tanabata) believed to fashion clothing for the gods. Termed Tanabata, this festival became one of the annual events observed by the imperial court. Since Tanabata fell close to the time of the "Bon Festival," which is a Buddhist observance honoring the spirits of ancestors, from July 13 to 15, Tanabata's celebration became associated with some of the practices involved in welcoming and seeing off the sprits of our ancestors. This festival features the display of bamboo branches decorated with long, narrow strips of colored paper and other small ornaments and talismans. The paper strips are inscribed with BEST WISHES and romantic aspirations for family, friends, and lovers. At the first part of this month, let's flash back in wrestling history to welcome the season's spirits and memories.

He has been wrestling about a year-and-a-half and wrestled for ECWA in Delaware, PCW (Pennsylvania Championship Wrestling) in Pennsylvania, APW (All Pro Wrestling) in California, IPW Hardcore (Independent Pro-Wrestling) in Florida, and SCW (Southern Championship Wrestling) in Florida. His favorite style is Japanese and Lucha Libre style. He said, "I would like to wrestle for the WWF, WCW, and go to Japan. I know there 10,000 other wrestlers that want to do the same things, but I am looking to expand to Japan someday!"
