| We start off with Eve. She's a young woman who's a product of a genetic experiment. Her mitochondria were given a boost of intelligence, and now those mito things are self aware of the world around them. |
| If you've taken biology in school, Mitochondria are things that exist inside all animal cells. Their job? They convert blood and oxygen into energy. So when these guys take control of your body, you can guess it's gonna get a bit hectic. |
| If the intelligent mitochondria get in your cells, they reproduce themselves, sorta like viruses, and then they take control of you. Pretty scary. When you play the game watch the rat morph (Download it in the Downloads section), you'll know what I mean. |

| Parasite Eve starts out at Carnige Hall where Melissa Pearce is performing on stage. Melissa then gets taken over by, as we know her best, Eve. Yes, Eve. PE fans may want to argue that that statement is false saying "Eve" was a result of the mitochondria taking over Melissa. But, Mitochondria Eve is the phenomena when you mitochondria make too much energy for the neucleus and/or are mutated. We can all agree that the Eve in Mitochondria Eve is where the name Eve comes from (in this game at least). So what I'm saying is that the syndrome took over Melissa's body and not just the mitochondria that's why I say Eve took over. |
| Aya seems to be the only one to survive (Nobody knows if her boyfriend actually survives.) and is called up to the stage. On the stage she is told what "evil" lurks within and is later filled in even more. Through the course of the game, more and more is revieled about how this came about but I'll skip all the gritty details. What it all boils down too is the immeunosupressants that Melissa was taking. These weakened her in some way or another allowing the otherwise dormant mitochondria cells to take over their "host". That's all fine but the reason why she was taking them is the real climax of the story. She was taking them because she had an organ transplant. Surprising, huh? Well it shouldn't be because the best hasn't been revieled yet. Who the organs came from is the real creepy part. Maya Brea, Aya's sister!!so who is this mysterious Eve??. |
