The History of the 6th's Flag

Welcome again to the 6th Alabama Cavalry Website. We hope that you learn alittle more about this group of reenactors and the great men that they portray. So, come and enjoy the 6th's website.

The 6th is involved in many Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida events. We host two event in Alabama. We call one of them Thunder on the Bay, a reenactment of the Battle of Mobile Bay. We also host a re-enactment of the Massacre of Fort Mims, which is held in Tensaw, Alabama. Many days of hard work go into the planning of these events each year. Thunder on the Bay has become one of the most unique re-enactments in the country, involving all branches of service. The popularity of the event has grown each year since we began including naval vessels and the landing of the Union army on the beach. Last year we had a video team from ZIBI Video there to tape it. The Thunder on the Bay event is held at Fort Gaines, Dauphin Island, Alabama. This year's event will be held on May 4-6 2002.

The 6th Alabama must occasionally portray a Union regiment. We do this so that there will be some Yankees to fight against. When we "galvanize" we become the 10th Indiana Cavalry, Company F. We have a lot of fun whatever color we put on. We do our best to honor the brave men who died on both sides of the terrible conflict.
