Restoration Work

Restoration & repair of ship models and marine antiques is an important and ongoing part of my business. I have worked on all kinds of models, large & small, from the sublime to the ridiculous, and all of them even the “worst“ had something to show me. Restoring antiques is supremely interesting and instructive. One spends hours, if not days & weeks or sometimes more, with one piece and learns all its secrets. Information about construction, finish, objects left inside, how many times it has been repaired, all is revealed. The education one receives trying to match the original construction & finish would be almost unavailable in any institutional setting. One also has the opportunity to work on some outstanding examples of maritime art, such as illustrated here. Restoration work is billed on an hourly basis, plus any associated costs. An estimate will be given, but the final bill will reflect the actual hours worked, more or less than the estimate. Reach me by e-mail domihs@netzero.net or by telephone 978-371-2088 to discuss restoration work.
