II started my musical career when I was 10 by joining the school brass band and learning first on the Cornet and then on the Trumpet.I still have a deep love for the sound of"Brass"played well.

Although I learnt to read music a gave this up when I was twelve when I started to play guitar as I seemed to have a good ear and could just pick-up the songs from records and the radio.I'd already started to listen to "Cream" and other rock bands and realised this was what I wanted to play.

When my older sister bought me,"Led Zep 1" when I was 12/13 years old, that made my mind up when I heard that"Noise"and I decided I wanted to be the next"Jimmy Page".I listened and played all the time, even"Bunking"off (Twagging-off if you live in the north off the UK)school and used to go to bed with a small A.M. transistor radio under my pillow with one of those old Crystal, mono earplugs to listen to the "Pirate"radio stations that were around at the time in the UK like"Radio North Sea International"and"Radio Caroline"who were playing all the new underground heavy rock/blues.It was like being part of a "New frontier" as I drifted off to sleep into Rock Guitar Land.

Started "Jamming"real good when I was 15.Formed my first real band when I was 18.We took the name of the band from one of our favourite comedy shows of the time and we didn't want to be just another"Heavy"band so it was called"Ethel The Frog"(From Monty Python's Flying Circus.

It was a 2 guitar bass and drums band playing all our own material except for a couple over covers which we totally re-did.We had the same line-up for 4 years and just as the band was coming to and end got a deal with EMI UK and got a song on a compilation Album in the "New Wave Of British Heavy Metal"era called"Metal For Muthas".On the same album was a young band like us who went on to do a bit better called"Iron Maiden".The album sold around 80,000 in the UK and Europe, not too shoddy.

From that we got our own album"Ethel The Frog"which sold around 18,000 albums(and 5 in Japan<grin>).
