BESM: Doctor Who

New Attributes

Gallifrian Regeneration - 15 pts.

The Doctor: Rose Tyler, I was gonna take you to so many places. Barcelona. Not the city Barcelona, the planet Barcelona. You'll love it, fantastic place, they've got dogs with no noses! Imagine how many times a day you end up telling that joke, and it's still funny!
Rose: Then, why can't we go?
The Doctor: Maybe you will, and maybe I will, but not like this.
Rose: You're not making sense.
The Doctor: I might never make sense again! I might have two heads! Or no head! Imagine me with no head - and don't say that's an improvement. But, i
t's a bit dodgy, this process. You never know what you're gonna end up with... I absorbed all the energy of the time vortex and no-one's meant to do that... every cell in my body's dying... Yeah, I'm doing it now... Time Lords have this little trick, it's sort of a way of cheating death, except, it means I'm gonna change. And I'm not gonna see you again, not like this, not with this daft old face. And before I go ...
Rose: Don't say that!
The Doctor: Rose, before I go I just wanna tell you - you were fantastic... absolutely fantastic... and d'you know what? So was I.

- From"The Parting of the Ways"

This is the form of regeneration all Time Lords, both those affiliated with the High Council of Gallifry like Romana and renagades like The Doctor, The Master, and The Rani, posess. This Attribute grants two powers. The character automatically regains health as if he had purchased two levels of the Regenration attribute (1 health per minute either when active and or resting). However, should the character suffer fatal amounts of damage, the character Regenerates. All must purchase a number of attributes and skills (but not ability scores) equal to the amount of Character, Skill and Advancement Points spent on attributes. If he so desires, he may keep the same attribute. However, the player cannot get rid of any attributes from a Template package he purchased at character creation, and he cannot get rid of the Gallifrian Regeneration Package. The character can only Regenerate 12 times. Once he has Regenerated 12 times he cannot Regenerate any more, and if the character dies again, he dies permanently.

However, some un-scrupulous Time Lords , like The Master, have managed to cheat death further by posessing another person. In these cases, the player may spend a number of points equal to the number he spent previously on Ability Scores, but not on Attributes or Skills. This can only be done with GM's approval.

Note To GM: Regeneration should be done as in the Doctor Who series - when dramatically appropriate. It should not be taken lightly (Romana's regeneration to Romana II aside), and it should not be used asn excuse to take foolish risks. Remember, once you've 12 regenerations, the next time you die, it's permenant.

The Daleks were created on the planet Skaro. The planet was torn by war between two of the dominent races, the Kaled and the Tahal. They had been fighting for generations, and the planet was left mostly uninhabitable. A Kaled scientist named Davros, who was crippled by a Thal attack, believed that by bringing about the next stage of the Kaleds evolution through eugenics, he would be able to create a stronger, more dominant form that would allow them to win the war and elimate the Thals forever.

The creatures he created were limited in physical strength and had some difficulty surviving in the atmosphere. However, within a small, specially designed personal tanks, his creatures became on-nigh unstoppable killing machines, with almost no weaknesses aside from the eye-stalk of the tank. Thinking himself particularly clever, he called his creation a "Dalek" (Kaled spelled backwards). With the arrival an outsider from another world (The Doctor), and the government of the Kaleds considering stopping his work and, even worse, signing a peace with the hated Thals, he betrayed his government to the Thals, allowing them to penitrate the sheld and destroy the last city of his people. Then, he unleashed the Daleks, with one command, to "Exterminate! Exterminate! EXTERMINATE!"

After nearly wiping out the Thals, they turned on their creator. While the last of the Thals managed to trap the Daleks in the remains of Davros' lab, generations later they managed to escape, and since then have become the greatest scourge the universe has ever known. Each Dalek has enormous destructive power. They feel no fear, no pain, no pity, no sympathy, and no mercy. They cannot be reasoned with, though some, such as The Doctor, have been able to decieve them. They exist for one, and only one purpose - to further the Dalek race, and all that are not Daleks are to be exterminated...
