This site is also dedicated to the memory of Lester Van Alstine (1905-1994). Without the devotion to Genealogical research that Lester had this site would not be possible. I have based my starting point on his book "Van Alstyne-Van Alstine Family History" Vol. 3. In sitting down and entering in the names, it has given me a greater appreciation to Lester's work. I have spent many long hours of entering names from his book and realize how many hours he had spent compiling the data before computers. I received an email that stated that Lester donated his research material to State University of New York in Albany. |

Aug. 6, 1998: I am finished entering the data from the Van Alstyne Family History. There were a couple of spots in the book where I could not figure out were some of the names connected in so I will be double checking the book at a later time. I have found out that on page 464 where is shows the Van Alstine family connection to the Ingalls is probably incorrect so I have left out the Ingalls family. In my recent search I have located about 2,000 additional names that need to be entered and will be doing that in the next few weeks. |

My goal is to list as many of the descendants of Jan Martense as possible. If you have a Van Alstyne or Van Alstine family connection and do not find the connection here please email me with as much Van Alstyne/Van Alstine information and I will search my records and let you know if there is a connection. If you find a connection here and find that my information is inaccurate or incomplete please email me with the correction or addition. If you have any photos, birth certificates, death certificates, marriage records, family bibles or anything you feel would be of interest on this page please contact me and we can make arrangements to have the items included here. I am starting photo coping census records when I have the time while I am near the National Archives in Laguna Niguel. I will be scanning the records and posting them after I have entered all of the names. |
