Point-Counterpoint: Parking at Nassau

by Tina Stersh
The Parking at Nassau has got to Improve

Everyday I drive my car to school, and everyday I say to myself, “Tricia! We have got to do something about this parking situation.” Well I am finally doing something President Fanelli, I am writing you this letter. I hope you don’t mind if I call you Sean, it feels so much nicer that way.
The biggest problem with the parking here at Nassau is that there is not enough. I always get to school an hour before each class to ensure that I find a spot, but I have heard horror stories of people driving around for ten, even fifteen minutes looking for a spot. One time a kid came in when there was only five minutes left in class because he couldn’t find a spot. Can you believe that Sean? The parking is so bad that it is affecting the studies of some students.
Another problem with the parking is that the lots are so rough and bumpy. I guess it isn’t a big deal if you drive one of those monstrous SUVs, but I drive a 1994 Toyota Tercel. I feel every little bump in the road, and it really aggravates my tail bone. You see Sean, I have had a bruised tail bone just about all my life. When I was young, my father dropped me and it has been bruised ever since.
Another problem with the parking lots is that they are not clearly marked. It seems as though spots have been repainted on spots on top of other spots! Try saying that three times fast! It gets confusing when you are driving through the lot because you don’t know if you are driving on spots or on the road, and the cars are all misaligned and stuff. There will probably be an accident if something isn’t done about it.
That is all of the problems that I can think of right now Sean, but if I remember any more I will write you another letter. I will admit though, it would be easier if I could call you on the telephone, so perhaps in your reply you could give me your phone number. Anyway, thanks for listening Sean.
