The Year That The Lights Were Turned On.

Place Jacque Cartier 1925 Klik to Montreal Que. Canada, A Great History. Photo on the left, will change from time to time.Place Jacque Cartier Yesterday. Scroll down, the same place today.

The pic on the upper left, is an observation car, put into service in 1905. I had the pleasure of taking the tours on it. Especially at night, when it was nice and warm, the lights were turned on, it was beautiful. Picture it.!!! The fares were 5 cents.
It also took us on a tour, of our little mountain,(233 meters=1.3 yards per meter above sea level.Roughly 12-1500 feet High), located in the center of the city.(For more history, click on the observation car , on the left panel.)

St.Urban St. 1860   St.Urban St. Today

I spent many years, when I was a lad, on this mini mountain. We had band concerts, movies, picnics, etc. We could not afford to go elsewhere. I lived between Mont Royal St. and Rachel Sts. You can see it was not to far from the park. The park is still being used today. 1859   Montreal was bordered North by St.Antoine St. South to the St.Lawrence River.

On the left panel, you can see, some of our early transportation. It is the same type of transportation, that you may see, in any part of the world.

cityhallRight, is the Montreal City Hall (click to enlarge) that is located in old Montreal. Place Jacque Cartier
A view of Old Montreal, with the City Hall in the background.

Montreal is considered the Paris of North America, because the population is about 65% French, the architecture of the city hall, is early France. Unlike the rest of Canada, Montreal takes on a European Flavor.

Montreal Belonged to America in 1775

I live in Ville Saint-Laurent, which was incorporated in 1893 and the population at that time was 1225 residents.

Ville (City of) St.Laurent  a suburb of Montreal, on the island. It is centrally located. I am 5 min. away from the Trans Canada Highway, [40] 10-15 min. from Dorval Airport, and depending on traffic, southeast, about 15 to 20 min. from downtown. We rarely go there, as we have everything we need in Ville St.Laurent. We now have a mega movie complex, just been built, after not having a movie house to go to for over 20 years. It is 10 min. from where we live. We have lived here for 20 years, & have no intentions of moving

It Is 50 Years That I Have Been Married. We Have Lived In St.Laurent, More Than Half The Time.  More History.
