BODYMAP
Cat in the Hat Collection - 1984
A crazily Theatrical event, BodyMap's  show during London Fashion Week in September '84 was variously described as an acid trip and a freak show with too many props obscuring the clothes. While it might have assured Body Map's die-hard fans that the duo hadn't sold out to commerce, the frizzy wigs, plastic skull caps, kissing boys and bared breasts provoked the influential Daily News Record ( men's arm of the American bible Womens Wear Daily ) to wonder if it were all "an outrageous pretention of merely a pretentious outrage."
Back in the security of their Kings Cross manor, key members of the Body Map club, in their usual Friday night haunt Stewart and Holah appear precisley what their saleable image requires them to be : two more creativley attired faces in a tight-knit clique of capital fun-seekers, stalwarts of swinging London, former New Romantis and beneficiaries of a scene which, from its spiritual home at a certain Warren Street squat, spun the likes of George, Marilyn,  Stephen Linard, Kensington Market and St martins College into the realms of fashionable myth under the heneral heading of Street Style
