Long before the holdings of East Rock joined in alliance, Black Ridge Hold was founded, and from the moment their first Lord was named, Black Ridge had been nothing but bad news. Tithes were seldom given on time, and when they were, they were far from paid in full. Thieves ran amok, crops did not grow well unless there was something foul or illegal growing amongst them. As time passed, things only got worse. When Bekirol became Lord of Black Ridge, he created a new legion of mercenary riders -- men who wore inky black cloaks and rode pure black stallions. They did his will, whether it was delivering messages or delivering death. They knew no morals. Such things were scarce in the lands Black Ridge held. However, Bekirol wasn't happy with just Black Ridge. He wanted the lands of his brother Pelinar - the Borderlands, and was swift to have him killed. Unfortunately, Bekirol was not Pelinar's only relative. Pelinar's wife Darosa and her two boys remained at Border Hold, and the lands escaped Bekirol's grasp. The only way he could gain them was to force Darosa to marry him, which she would never do. In persuit of her, Bekirol wound up at Cy Dragonstake as Birana and Dohosh's clutch of HyDragons were hatching, and bonded with the five headed Mchawith. This began his reign as an evil dragonrider, if the hybrid hydra could be called a dragon. More HyDragons and dark dragons followed, joining them at Black Ridge, until it came to Bekirol's attention that his large hold was not nearly large enough to house a fleet of dragons. Building began, and soon Black Ridge Hold became Arx Atra Mons -- Fortress Black Ridge -- and became the first dark dragonry in East Rock. Things would never be the same, especially after the first clutch was laid...
