My way in science, so far, has been pretty straightforward. I matriculated from the Physics & Mathematics School No. 145 (Kiev) in 1987, from the Physics Department of Kiev University in 1992. Under supervision of Profs. Vadim M. Loktev and Petr I. Fomin I concluded my post-graduate studentship by defending a Ph.D. (Candidate of Science) thesis "Two-dimensional and Quasi two-dimensional Models of Superconductivity with Arbitrary Carrier density" in ITP in 1996.
Rather quickly after the defence of my PhD thesis I found a postdoctoral position and went to South Africa where I was doing my postdoctoral research at the Department of Physics, University of Pretoria with Prof. Rachel M. Carter. It is very nice to be here, isn't it? Lions, elephants, ibises ... I must tell you that South Africa has probably the best nature in the world. I saw also the marvellous flowering of the Jacaranda trees in Pretoria.
Then I went to Switzerland, where I have being working as a Senior Scientist (Maître-assistant) at the University of Neuchâtel, in the group of Prof. Hans Beck. My last postdoc was at the Department of Physics & Astronomy of McMaster University, Canada, with Prof. J.P. Carbotte.
