Below is one of many, but slowly disappearing plaster cast copy of Jean Antoine Houdon`s  "L`Ecorche" made in 1767  in Rome.

The Ecorche was presented to the Academy`s students when he was accepted into the French Academy as a Professor.  This Ecorche, meaning literally, "flayed skin", was a study for "
St.John the Baptist". This copy has no arms, but, i am on a mission to acquire the arms and to resurrect the tradition of drawing from Houdon`s famous unequalled  "L`Ecorche".

Please find on the second page various links, some containing differing versions of the Ecorche, most notably in the inclination of the arms. the version pictured here, i believe was used mostly in academic schools through out Italy, as the original from what meagre sources i have gathered over the Web, suggest that the Ecorche , originally did  have the support that braces the left leg.  This "brace"  or armature is quite vital if it`s to be used by students
