A) It covers the bowling costs for the whole season, all league administration, League T-SHIRTS, and the end-of-the-season party which includes free drinks (beer and hard liquor), beiruit (beer pong), KAROAKE, and a short banquet/ceremony to give out your PERSONALIZED TROPHIES OR PLAQUES for our champions!!!
Q) Why are your seasons 10 weeks and what are my payment options?
A) Our 10 week season is one of the shortest (if not the shortest) seasons in Manhattan. We keep our seasons relatively short so that our social bowlers do not have to make long 20-30 week commitments like other leagues. Our current and loyal returning members like this as the scores reset for the new season, it gives them a short break for holidays such as Christmas, Chanukah, and New Years etc, and it gives other new members a chance to join without interrupting the league. Since the focus of the league is on social opportunities we pride ourselves on getting many new faces to join each season. The 10 week season must be paid for in advance. We accept all major credit cards. Our social bowling league depends on our continued strong participation of our members so if you think you cannot make it to many of the nights you should reconsider joining.
Q) What if I can’t make all 10 nights of bowling?
A) You are allowed to provide your own substitute bowler who can fill your spot for any specified night. However, your average score will be inputted for that weeks round, not the score of the substitute. If you cannot find anyone, one will be provided for you. We do not charge the substitute as your spot is already pre-paid for the whole season upfront. However, you may seek out your own personal arrangement with your substitute to recoup some of your season fee for his/her 2 hours of free bowling. We do ask that you email us in advance to let us know the name of the bowler who will be the substitute.
Q) How many games do we play each night?
A) Every member is guaranteed to bowl 2 games each night. However, many times members can bowl more than 2 games, but only the first 2 are recorded. We rent out the lanes for 2 hours each night. If the rare situation occurs when 2 hours finish before the 2 games end, the league will purchase more time free of charge.
Q) How quickly do you update the scores and announcements?
A) We almost always have the scores updated the next day (within 24 hours).
Q) How do you get to the bowling alley?
A) There is a link on the main page which gives detailed directions and information to the bowling alley.
Q) The scores posted on the announcements and results webpage seem high? How do you calculate scores?
A) The scores that are posted are the combination of the two games bowled that evening. A posted score of 300 does not unfortunately mean any member bowled a perfect game, but that he or she averaged 150 per game that night.
Q) Are there refunds?
A) Unlike almost all other sport leagues in the city, we are willing to give pro-rated refunds if we can find a permanent substitute to replace you. All statistics and scores are reset for the new bowlers. This only happens in rare situations as the willingness to give any refund at all is at the discretion of the league.
Q) What is the end of the season party?
A) Unlike most leagues which have boring banquets and award ceremonies, we have our end-of-the-season party at a bar. We provide a good deal of alcohol and beer along with entertainment. In the past we have participated in karaoke and multiple other social entertainment to go along with our brief and entertaining award ceremony where you get your own personalized trophy or plaque.
Q) What awards are given out?
A) We have many different awards that are given out and vary by season. Our standard Men’s High Avg. Score, Women’s High Avg. Score, Men’s Best Team Record, Women’s Best Team Record, Most Improved, and other humorous awards are given out. Usually, most of our awards are in the form of plaques that can be displayed proudly in an office or home. Others could be in the form of a beer mug etc. ALL AWARDS ARE PERSONALIZED!
