    Copy-Paste Features

    Can I copy part features directly ?

    You can copy sketch-based features and placed anywhere very easily.

    The feature(s) can be copied to new faces within the same part or to separate parts.

    Click a sketch-based feature like protrusion or cutout, either in the graphics area or in the Feature pathfinder to highlight it.

    Right click and select Copy from the menu.

    Next, click the Paste   icon on the Main toolbar

    or select Edit > Paste.

    Solid Edge will prompt you to select a face to paste the feature.

    After selecting a face, the sketch will appear to move with the cursor.

    Click anywhere on the face to place (paste) the copied feature and further constrain it using dimensions.

    Once copied, a feature can be pasted into other Part files in the same Solid Edge session.





    Notes :

  • To copy a profile-based feature with non profile-based child(ren), select both - parent and the child(ren) using the Ctrl keybefore copying.


  • Copying a sketch-based feature as a child of another sketch-based feature using the above method, copies only the parent sketch-based feature.


  • Multiple sketch-based features with multiple non sketch-based children features can be all copied and pasted at once.





    • Un-sectioned Parts

    How can I show some parts Unsectioned ?

    Click a section-view to highlight it.

    Right click the selected section-view and choose Properties.

    On the Drawing View Properties dialog box, take the Display tab.

    In the Parts list tree view, all part name nodes will have a section symbol.

    Select parts to exclude from sectioning.

    To select all occurences of a part, right click on the Part node and select Select All Occurrences.

    On the right side of the tree view, remove the check mark from the Section check box.

    OK in the dialog box and click the Update Views   tool on the Drawing Views toolbar.





    Display Formulae

    How can I display the variable or formula (e.g. v2471 = v246 / 2) for each dimension ?

    Right click on a dimension in the sketcher and choose any of the option as shown in fogure.

    (In the Part view, double click a feature either in the graphics area or in the feature path-finder to display its dimensions).

    To change the name of the variable from v246 to more meaningful like Shaft_Dia or Collar_Width, double click, the dimension and change its name in the Ribbon bar.
