CONFERENCE HANDOUTS AND POWERPOINT PRESENTATIONS HAVE BEEN ADDED.  PRESENTERS ARE STILL WELCOME TO SUBMIT THEIRS.

SCOPE: The Southeast Asian Linguistics Society provides a forum to share languages and ideas for linguists interested in ‘non-northern’ Asian languages.  In terms of genetic affiliation, investigation into any aspect of Austroasiatic, Austronesian, Hmong-Mien, Tai, Kadai, or Tibeto-Burman languages may be relevant to our members.  Although the common thread we recognize in the first instance is geographical, the boundaries of Southeast Asia are not clear, and we would not like to draw them rigidly.  For example, scholars of languages that have a historical connection to the languages of the area which, however, lie geographically outside and/or are typologically unlike those in the Southeast Asian group would be welcome to participate in our meetings and publications, as would scholars of the typologically similar languages of southern China.
