Saratoga County Volunteer Fire

Police Association

Saratoga County,

New York

BETTER PROTECTING OUR FELLOW FIREFIGHTERS SINCE 1963.

In 1958, an attempt was made to organize the fire police within Saratoga County. But, it was not until 1963 that the association, as we now know it, was formed. With the aid of the VFPASNY's attorney, Jerome Kornfeld, our association was incorporated on May 22, 1968. Our main purposes are to promote fire police and their needs, to ensure uniform fire police training, to coordinate fire police activities, to provide support for each other, and to support legislation of value to the fire police and their safety. The membership currently consists of over one hundred active members from the fire police squads within the county. We conduct six meetings a year (in the months of January, March, May, July, September and November). All meetings start at 7:30 PM with the exception of our July meeting which is combined with a picnic and starts at  6:00 pm.

2nd SCVFPA Memorial Service

On May 9th, 2009 at 10:00 AM the Saratoga County Volunteer Fire Police Association conducted our 2nd Memorial Service at the Rexford Fire House.

At this our second Memorial Service, we memorialized 16 Fire Police recently deceased as well as the 84 from our 1st Memorial Service. I would estimate that we had close to 50 individuals present.

I wish to take this time to thank all that helped organize this memorial service. I also would like to thank the Rexford Fire Department for opening their rooms to us. The Rexford Fire Department Auxially for putting on a spreas after the service and those members from the Rexford Fire Department that volunteered to be members of the Honor Guard.

COOPERATION NEEDED

If you know of any Fire Police that has passed away or is sick, we would also like their name, address and as well as company/department.
