The New Testament

I.  Basics

A. Scrubs is an acronym for "Society (for the) Creative Reconstruction (of) Ultimate Baseball Seasons."

B.

We'll be using DMB (Diamond Mind Baseball) version 7.0d to sim the season. The DH rule will be in effect and we'll be playing with the "Neutral Era" option to account for the discrepancy inherent in differing seasonal statistics.

C. There will be a total of 12 teams, aligned into 3 divisions of 4 teams each.

D. Our regular season will begin whenever we get around to it, and will run for as long as it takes to complete a 154-game schedule.  No big whoop, baseball is like a fine wine anyway... to be sipped and savored, not gulped.  No games will be played November 25th-28th (Thanksgiving) or December 24th-January 1st (Christmas/New Year's). Two games (not to be confused with a double-header) will be played every Saturday for two reasons:  1. to help make up for the off dates and, 2. because that's just the way it's always been.

E. Each team will play a total of 14 games against every other team.

II.  Team Rosters

A.  Full Roster

1, Each team is allowed a 35-man roster at the start of the season and a maximum of 60 thereafter.

2. Players may be traded in any fashion (1 batter for 3 pitchers, etc.).

B.  Active Roster

1.  Each team may have up to 25 players at one time on the active roster.

2. No batter/pitcher limits are in effect. (i.e. You may have 16 batters and 9 pitchers, 14 batters and 11 pitchers, or any other combination of players that adds up to 25.)

C.  Injuries

1. The DMB injury rule will NOT be used.

D. Player Moves & Changes

1. Players being sent to the inactive roster must remain there for a period of no less than 14 game days (as opposed to "real" days) before they may be recalled.

2. Games will normally be posted after 9:00 PM EST during the week (due to my work schedule) and 3:00 PM EST on the weekends.  If you need any changes to take place on the same day, they will need to be posted (either on the BB or via e-mail) at least an hour prior to those times.

E. Position Eligiblity

1. Infielders are only eligible to field a specific position if they have played at least 5 games at that spot.

2. Outfielders may play in any outfield position although they will be penalized by DMB (usually with a slight reduction to their Range and/or Fielding %.) if they're not rated at that position.

NOTE: Players who have accumulated stats with more than one team will ONLY have the stats for the chosen team, not total combined numbers.

III.  Playing Time Limits

A. Once a player reaches the specified playing time limit, he is no longer eligible for daily game play and must be removed from the active roster.

1. A batter's limit is reached when his Scrubs Total ABs reach or exceed 120% of that batter's actual season number of ABs. Furthermore, batters with separate L/R stats may not exceed 180% of their respective ABs vs L/R pitching. Those that exceed their L/R limits may not be placed in the starting lineup versus that type pitcher but may remain on the active roster as long as their total ABs are less than 120%.

2. A pitcher's limit is reached when his Scrubs BF (Batter's Faced) reaches or exceeds 120% of that pitcher's actual season number of BF.

3. Batters with 80 or less ABs may not be placed in the starting lineup; however, they may be listed in a utility role with a starting frequency of no greater than 49%. This number is cumulative. (i.e. You may have the player listed to spot start one position at 49%, two positions at 25% and 24% respectively, three positions at 29%-10%-10%, etc..)

IV.  The Draft

A. Snake-style draft, the order of which will be determined randomly.  The process continues until every roster has 35 players.

B. Players who appear more than once in the free agent pool may only be drafted once -- so pick your season wisely.

C. Proxy draft submissions are acceptable but be very specific in relating what you want as I'll use your requirements (and only your requirements) as the single guideline in choosing a player.

V.  Trading

A. All trades are to be posted under the appropriate Subject provided in the Classic Baseball Forum, and must be confirmed by both parties and myself.

B. PTBNL trading will NOT be allowed.

C. A trading deadline will be imposed on GAME-120. No trading will be allowed after that time.

VI.  Playoffs

A. Playoffs will include the 3 division winners and 1 wild card.

B. All playoff series will be in a best-of-seven format. In the first round the team with the best record will play the team with the worst record, and the other two winners will face each other.

C. All players are eligible for the 25-man playoff roster, including those who have previously exceeded their regular-season playing-time limit.

D. Three-, four-, or five-man pitching rotations may be specified for the playoffs.

VII.  Statistics

A. Statistics and League Leader info will be periodically distributed -- probably once a week or so.
