REALISM

This site is dedicated to screenshots from the motorcycle racing sim GP500.  I was so impressed with the game's realism that I couldn't resist playing around with the images obtained from the screenshots. Using PhotoShop, PaintShop Pro, NetStudio, and Microsoft's Gif Animator, I was able to really have some fun with the images I captured from the replays of races and practice sessions in the game. One of the game's more powerful features is the ability to replay your session and watch how you and other riders perform from various camera angles.

There are six main categories of screenshots on this site, plus a Links page:

The ART page features shots that I've manipulated in one way or another to make them look like... well, art. These are the kind of images you'd like to have hanging on the wall in your garage or office if you appreciate the beauty of motorcycle racing.

The HUMOR page features screenshots that I've found to be amusing in one way or another. On many of them, I've added my own touch to make them a bit funnier.

The CRASHES page is self-explanatory. You can get some really good ones in this game, especially if you try riding around the track backwards while the AI (artificial intelligence) riders are going around the correct way!

The REALISM page contains images that I've found to be very close to photographic quality. For a computer game, the realism of GP500 is amazing. I've retouched some of these images to make them look even more like photographs. I'll be adding some of the newer 2000 series bikes to this page and the ART page soon.

The SUPERCROSS page shows images of these bikes doing things they weren't designed to do. I discovered that you can get really big air off the chicane at the Paul Ricard circuit and these are the results.

The ANIMATIONS page contains animated GIFs that I created from the replays of GP500. It includes crashes, supercross jumps and burnouts.

The LINKS page has links to other GP500 sites and motorcycle related sites. I've also included some links to other web sites I've done.

MORE GP500 SCREENSHOTS

You may have noticed that I haven't done a lot of updating to this site recently. That's because I've used up almost all of the available free space for the site. So...I've decided to start another GP500 Screenshots site. This means than any updates will be posted on that site and not here, including any contributions that people send me of their own screenshots. In fact, the new site has a special page devoted to just contributions sent in by other GP500 fans. You'll also find images of the 125s, 250s, the 1993 500s, the 1989 250s and others. Click on the link above.

If you think you've got some special screenshots that are worthy of publication, feel free to e-mail them to me. I can't promise I won't manipulate them around, however! Please convert them to GIF or JPEG format before sending, or Zip them up. In fact, even if you do convert them to GIF or JPEG, it's helpful if you Zip them before sending.

Many thanks to Dean Hill of The GP500 Store for the skins of the 2000 series 500cc bikes. He and Jim Brindle did an amazing job of improving on the game's realism with these skins that are even more detailed than those that came with the game.
