Galadriel stood on the balcony of her flet watching the figure strolling through the mellryn. She felt her heart almost stop in her chest because He was her lord her husband and the other half of her soul. This was to be their last night in Lothlorien and soon she would leave these shores forever. But he was not to follow and she was not sure if he ever would.

Part of her wanted to run down to him and throw her arms around him, begging him to follow yet she knew it would be of no use. He would stay and she would go because it was what they had to do.
Yet she could not help but wonder if their love for each other would be enough to save them, knowing that he would never hold her again, that she would never feel the warm safety of his arms, of the heated touch of his body.

She could feel the similar thoughts echoing from his mind. While the bond they shared could not be broken, they would both end up searching out others to keep them warm through the lonely nights. But these nights had not yet come, and when his eyes met hers, she could see the determination in them. Most times, he let her lead or they were equals. This night she was to be his and he was heading to their talan not quite rushing but not lingering all the same.

She stepped back from the window, standing in the middle of the room waiting for him, wanting to memorize the look of him to help carry her through the lonely years ahead of her. The crying and the pleading were over, she was not going to convince him and she knew it so she would take this last final comfort. Never again would it be like this.

She could feel his presence growing closer and then the door opened, causing her breath to catch in her throat. There he stood looking at her an almost feral light in his eyes. He tore his gaze away just long enough to lock the door.

Galadriel did not remember him crossing the room, only that he was there, his hands upon her exploring her, his lips soft and demanding at the same time. With a quick movement of skilled hands, he divested her of her gown. His pace was hurried yet not as he pushed her back towards the bed they had shared these many years. She could not help but stare in amazement as Celeborn undressed. It had been too long since she had seen his well defined body yet she still remembered every curve of every muscle and the way they rippled as He moved inside of her.

As he leaned over her, his hands resting on either side of her head, she knew there would be no foreplay and she realized that she needed none. Staring up at him, she could feel the tightening feeling just as she had the very first time she had lain eyes on him. This would be one of the few times in their life that he would put himself first, and still she had no fear, knowing he would never hurt her or leave her needing.

She stared into his silver eyes as he settled himself between her legs, running gentle hands down her side and over her hips till he reached his destination and lifted her legs to an angle he knew would please them both. His lips claimed hers at the same moment that he thrust forward. The pace was quick and fiery and his hands were wicked in their exploration. He was demanding in his desire, taking her over the edge and back several times, leaving her floating in his embrace before he cried out his own release. She felt him collapse and when he tried to rise, she held him to her not wanting to lose the feel of him, wanting to memorize the feel of the delicious weight of his body.

She had so much she wanted to say to him yet it all slipped away as he rolled over on his side pulling her to him, repeating a slower more loving dance till Galadriel was exhausted and finally slept peacefully. Her head was tucked beneath Celeborn’s chin, his arms wrapped around her the same way they has slept that first night together and many since, both hoping that they would be together again yet both so unsure.

The next morning Galadriel woke to find Celeborn braiding his hair, dressed in his riding clothes. Galadriel stood and walked over to him and placed her hand on his shoulder, waiting for him to acknowledge her. When he turned, she looked at him with sad eyes.

“Celeborn, does it have to..” She was cut off by his fingers resting over her lips.

“It is simply the way it is, my Lady, and we cannot change it.”

With that, he stood and walked out, leaving her there in the lonely silence that she was sure she would become all too accustomed to.
