These are non-degree conferring university classes that can be taken online.
There are a couple of reasons to use this. One would be for general knowledge.
It is entirely possible to take non-credit courses and study using online
resources to gain the equivalent of a degree, all the way up to a doctorate,
though it wouldn't be officially recognized. Another would be to prepare for
testing credits (see above CLEP and DANTES testing) to get actual college credit.
Finally, I could use these resources to prepare for actual courses I plan to take
and get a head start (think MBA program).
Here are links to freely available textbooks online. These can be used with
any of the above resources to enhance the learning experience.
Note: The three East Coast schools listed here accept all kinds of transfer credit, allow testing out of classes, and sometimes give credit for "life experience". This would make getting a degree from one of these schools cheap and relatively easy. And they are accredited, so it's legitimate. Amazing.
The Russian school grants degrees in Law, Economics, Management, Psychology and Computer science and Information technology. There is no tuition, per se, but it does cost around $40-50 per month for labor union fees to study there.
The two California law schools listed will grant bachelor's or Juris Doctor degrees
and prepare one for the bar exam in the state of California. However, to practice law
in another state would require an additional Master's degree in law from a local school,
and passing that state's bar exam. But it's worth looking into.
