This site is dedicated
to slot car racing.
I started racing 1/32 scale (euroscale)
in April 2000.
I have been racing HO since 1993 or
4.
I used to race 1/10 scale electric off-road
r/c.
I'll post pictures of these and various
other interesting(???) items.
Check out the links below, there are
lots of photos.

HO
Scale
We race in or near Vancouver,
B.C., Canada.
We generally have between
three and eight hosts in our series, and have run 8, 9, 10, 12, and 15
race series in the spring and fall for the past five or six years.
For the last few years,
we have raced on a commercial MaxTrax, which also hosted the Vancouver leg of the CanAm Challenge Cup. (the other races were in Victoria and Seattle) Take a look at HO Zone,
from Victoria, B.C. for more details)
I joined a group at Archer
Raceway this spring.
Luf built a routed
plywood track, the first Track 1,upstairs at his business. A Commodore
64 lap timer was working by early May, (same setup we use for HO, but
with light, instead of magnetic, sensors).
The first official race
was Saturday, May 13, 2000. That was so much fun that the first official
race for the new Track
2 was the following Saturday. Track
1 got a facelift for July 17, and now contains a "corkscrew"
and a lake. First trial laps have now been run on Track
3, December 9. It's a FIVE laner, built in two sections, each
half measures 12 x 8.
Luf hosts racing Monday's
after 4:30, or at noon on long weekend Mondays.
He welcomes racers with their own cars and controllers.
PS:
We finally retired the
Commodore 64's. They crashed big time in this summers heat.
As of Monday, August 28,
both tracks are on the PC/Win 95 based Lap
Timer 2000.
Thank you Gregory
Braun, for the free download, the program works great.
PS too:
Apollo Hobbies now has
a wood track. (Track 4)
We ran the first trial
races Friday night, December 29, 2000.
It's very tricky to drive,
seemingly all big radius, sweeping corners, and hardly any straights.
We will race alternating
Mondays, using the four lane plastic for now. (temp Track 5)
They are already designing
the second of three woodies.
PS three:
Luf replaced the upstairs
Track's 1 & 2 with a new 5 laner (in the picture above).
It's 12 x 17, about
75 to 80 feet, and 8 second laps.
There are links to more
pics and some video clips on Luf's
new web site.
We are now using Dan
Groulx's Trackmate for lap timing on both tracks.
He customized his program
for our 5 lane applications.
I have a group of friends
that meet as an HO Club
to race Friday nights at 7:30 pm.
Slot car racing is the
only form of motor sports where "Drinking & Driving" is encouraged.
Our "casual attitudes"
at private homes discourages minors or spectators, but don't get the wrong
idea. We always have 'designated drivers' for the ride home.
We are a private
club. You can attend by invite only.
The tracks
are at different locations
around the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley.
Most of the tracks use
Commodore 64's or PET's for lap counters, triggered by magnetic switches
from the security industry mounted below the lanes.
We do televise selected
races on the net. See the HO web site for details.
We usually take breaks
through the summer and at Christmas.
Then we will run no-points
invitationals.
........whenever we
can talk someone into hosting.

a "Glacier Ice Pack".) ;-)
