Sandy Oaks is committed to the betterment of the breed. Each pairing is made after careful consideration of health, structure, movement and temperament. The sire and dam must be compatible, which takes a lot of careful research and planning for each breeding. Temperament is always first and foremost. I am very involved as a hobby breeder, and spend a lot of time training and showing my minis. I am a past NAMASCUSA Board member, past Committee Chair for the Genetics committee of MASCA, and a volunteer for Mini Aussie Rescue. (MARS) The miniature Aussie is a wonderful, loyal, fun loving dog. We have a great time with ours. They seem to know what you want before you tell them, and have a great sense of humor. They are a very intelligent breed, and need to be kept busy. When left alone at home all day, well, they may find things to entertain themselves. These are things you have to consider before getting your puppy. This breed is also very loyal to their family. They can be reserved with strangers, but should not be shy or fearful. The Australian Shepherd breed, as any breed does, has genetic diseases that you should be aware of. Health testing is a part of my breeding program, and all dogs leave my home with a guarentee. Please take the time to go to the Health and Genetics link, and further educate yourself about this wonderful dog. |
