Ms. Simonis
I have been teaching in District 76 since the fall of 1973. I have taught 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades and have worked in all three buildings. I grew up in Mundelein and graduated from Diamond Lake School and Mundelein High School.
My husband and I live in Mundelein with our miniature pinscher Sadie. We have three grown children. My daughter Lauren is the mother of 3 of my wonderful granddaughters, Abby, Faith, and Lily . Drew is a PE teacher in Antioch, a husband, and the father of my granddaughters, Klaudia and Andie. Joe is a PhD candidate at Cornell University in New York. Mr. Simonis is a retired firefighter who is now a 6th grade science teacher at Twin Groves Middle School.
During the summer of 2006, I canoed with my husband and Joe in Florida and came face to face with manatees. It was an awesome experience and I will be glad to show you some of my million manatee pictures if you ask!
We also completed a class on the Geology of the Black Hills. We hiked and camped and studied rocks! I learned a lot about working cooperatively in groups and I learned so much geology. One of the highlights was hiking to the top of Bear Butte.
