Sponsored by Oñate High School Japan Club

Our Spring Bug Collection took place the last week in April and first week in May.

Even though we were not very successful in collecting many bugs, we were lucky that our collection coincided with our community's Annual Insect Expo.  This expo is sponsored by the Chihuahuan Desert Nature Park  for elementary students to attend.  There were many individuals from universities, agencies, and even students from high schools who had displays and demonstrations.

First Collection Grid yielded many ants, 1 beetle, and a moth type insect.  The soil was very sandy with very little vegetation surrounding it.  This environment is typical of the area around our high school.

Typically, insects in the desert are better located by collection at night.
