"Death of the Marlfox"
A Poem by Stoutclaw

Cling! Clank!
Darkeyes the marlfox and I
were fighting to the death.
We did not stop to drink, eat, or rest.
We battled on for three days and three nights.
Both tired and wounded we fell to our knees in pain.
Suddenely he disappeared.
Not knowing where he was I stood up.
Argh!
Out from the back of the tavern came a laugh.
There was poison dagger in my back and I knew I was going to die.

Then I regained conchense and stabbed him.
He staggered then died.
Later that season I recovered.
I will never forget the time I fought Darkeyes the marlfox.
I will never forget how he died.
He died a painful death.
