"Lament of the BenDragons"
A Poem by Kyalmar BenDragon

Alas, and did the Dragon
Bring to his nation doom.
Caused Khorloc through his foolishness
Destruction, woe, and ruin.
Ever impatient, headstrong, rash
Forgetting ever the aftermath.
Great thought he his power was,
Heedless, he, and quick to wrath.
In his heart burned reckless fury
Justice did he sweep aside
Killing for pleasuere alone
Lawlessness his joy, his pride.
Mourned his subjects 'neath his fist
Never wisdom did he show.
Odious, hateful his reign.
Power was all he wished to know.
Quailed his people before him,
Ruinous, destructive his reign.
Slavered he o'er endless kills,
Tempered not his lust for pain.
Unitl the time of the last war,
Verily great our wrath 'gainst he, hark!
We rose up, and brought his end
Xeric* his grave, no stone to mark.
Yea, though we fought him, to late we tipped our hand.
Zealous in his bloodlust, Khorloc destrioyed the land.

Xeric*: Dry, arid. The Dragon Kingdom was mostly Desert, and gardens were planted and tended around graves to set them off from the surroundings. As a final insult to Khorloc, no garden was grown around his, so he suffered the shame of an arid, or "xeric," grave.
